The Colbert report is once again available via streaming in the UK. After about a year of UK viewers being blocked from watching the online version of his show it is now available once more.

I just finished watching a show by Penn & Teller called “Bullshit” and apparently recycling is a waste of time, energy and money. It seems people have known that recycling is a waste of time for quite while. Were I live we have just started recycling and everyone still seems to think, due to media and the government, that it is fantastic. I thought this was an interesting subject because we are spending so much time and money on the project so here are a few links.

If you have a bit of time on your hands i would advise watching the show “Bullshit” available, dubiously here.

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out – because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the communists
and I did not speak out – because I was not a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out – because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for me -
and by then there was no one left to speak out for me.

Pastor Martin Niemöller

Community and individuality are not opposites. People cannot survive on their own. When the odds are stacked against you, you must rally with the oppressed and hated.

When a growing oppressive regime is taking hold, you must act, otherwise you will soon face your enemy alone and hopeless.

Strength of community is a strength as much as individualism, as long you are willing to face weaknesses in your own community. Ignoring slacking values will mean that you will be rallied against by those you oppress.

Niemöller affirms we must rally against unhealthy organized regimes. We must also stay vigilant with those that appear to be good natured, as all organisation attracts corruption. Niemöller also warns us that if it is you who are corrupt, then you will face a stronger combined force of foe!

Media corporations and copyright lawyers who have been trying countless ways to halt free dissemination of millions of pounds worth of their property hailed it as a huge symbolic victory. As expected the file sharing community appears un-daunted by the prosecution of four leading members of “The Pirate Bay”. In reality, despite the media networks hot air, this changes nothing for file sharing websites. The interesting point I found was how much fanfare this got on news networks I am positive that this has absolutely nothing to do with those networks having extremely close ties to the groups urging the prosecution of the four pirates.

A lot of “so what?” talking has been spreading its way across the social media networks that care about this sort of thing and various un-repenting types have jumped in with examples like these:

It only seems to me that yes once again something unfair is going on, fortunately this time unlike in for example the unfair bank charges joke we have been playing out, it’s the little man who is seeing the benefit. Eventually something is going to happen to stem the tide of free stuff our media gorged pirate generation is receiving but hopefully not too soon.

Oh one last thing….. All you pirate kiddies should really stop acting as though stealing music is a totally altruistic act because you are anti-copyright blablabla you can’t justify theft no matter how hard you try and making the attempt makes you sound like an ignorant moron.
