SpringWidgets Fallout 3 Countdown Countdown to the Fall 3 video game, releasing October 24th, 2008.

As an avid Fallout fan, I am understandably excited about the release of Fallout 3. I have been biting my lip trying not to build it up in my mind however looking at some of the stuff available I have to say I am getting a good feeling about it!

The things that made Fallout and Fallout 2 such great games, in my eyes, where the attention to detail, all the little things you’re not expecting. The designers turned things in the game that might, at first glance, seem to be trivial but after a little exploration turn out to be interactive and useful like the learning by reading books system (at the time this was revolutionary and detailed, how far we have come).

Some of the propaganda that has made me feel they are not going to let me down are:

Prepare for the future the website is interactive and has a great deal of little touch’s that make it feel quality and done with style this is before the content involving game play is even mentioned.

The violence in this game was never my favourite issue even though the combat I have seen so far seems to be of a good quality, the VATS system deserving a shiny star. The aspects that really made me quite excited were the improvements in areas I thought were needed like the traps system which is a bit 2D and not very interactive in the originals seems to have been revolutionised with the 3D environments.

The sneak system, also a bit flat in the originals, seems now to have been improved from what I have seen. Games like Oblivion (which some might consider to be Fallout 3’s precursor) have a sneak system implemented and Fallout 3 appears to take this to the next level.

At the time the sneak system and traps system in Fallout games was revolutionary, even though they do seem a bit weak by today’s comparisons. These systems that no other games had gave Fallout the cult status it originally achieved. We can only hope that some other new un-expected systems may have been devised by Bethesda however I feel just modernising the format might still score them a big hit with cult fans and new gamers alike.
